| The major sectors of interest to the Centre for Enterprise Development and Action Research includes:
Local and community economic development
Governance and democracy
Health
Education
Agriculture
These sector issues are addressed through a set of cross cutting and integrated approaches.
In the Research, advisory and consultancy programme, CEDAR engages in demand-driven policy and action research as well as in those researches that inform our programme focus. Using both traditional and innovative methodologies including participatory rapid appraisals (PRA), the centre undertakes rapid and long-term researches. We also have updated databases on development experts and organisations as well as a well-stocked development resource and documentation library.
A component of this programme involves the provision of mentoring support for NGO and CBO building and management. Providing backstopping and sub-contracting activities, we also facilitate the organisation of workshops and conferences for other NGOs and we provide orientation for international personnel. In South-west Nigeria, we constitute a clearing house for information dissemination to other NGOs and CBOs in the zone. |

| CEDAR facilitates community and group driven development projects throughout entire project cycle and creates access to information, market intelligence, technology adoption, skills development opportunities and micro-credit for them. In the charity component, the Centre also acts as an intermediary for the distribution of humanitarian support to vulnerable groups
In the networking, information dissemination and advocacy component, the centre engages in policy reviews, analysis and evidence-based advocacy through partnerships with other groups. This aspect of the programme encourages organisations and communities to go beyond palliative service delivery programmes but to use the emerging democratic space particularly in Nigeria, to participate in policy processes, influence decisions that affect people's lives and hold public institutions accountable. Our strength lies in our comparative advantage for coordinating and networking with other NGOs and CBOs as well as in sharing appropriate technical skills with them. |

In Training, Internships and Attachments, we conduct skills development training for our partners as well as on behalf of other organisations in the areas of development education, vocational skills, entrepreneurship, microcredit, democracy and governance, health education (including HIV/AIDS), advocacy skills, gender analysis, research methodologies (including PRA) and development focused computer literacy. We also provide national and international development internship, volunteer exchange and attachment opportunities for development workers. We serve as a practicum site for some overseas institutions as well as provide desk and field research support for local and foreign students.
In all the programme areas, the centre mainstreams gender-sensitivity as we seek to generally address social imbalances and we are also environment conscious.
